History

The Biltmore brand has undergone a remarkable journey since its establishment in 1917. Founded in Guelph, Canada, the company quickly earned a reputation for its luxurious hats. By the 1950s, Biltmore had cemented its position as a leader in the Canadian hat industry. After 95 successful years in Canada, the brand transitioned to the United States in 2011 following its acquisition by Dorfman Pacific. The Milano Hat Company, a subsidiary of Dorfman Pacific, began producing Biltmore hats in 2012, meticulously preserving the iconic styles and exceptional quality synonymous with the brand's Canadian legacy.

For over a century, Biltmore Hats has stood as a symbol of unparalleled craftsmanship and quality across a wide range of styles. From its humble beginnings in Niagara Falls as the Fried Hat Company to its decades-long tenure in Guelph, Ontario, Biltmore has consistently delivered timeless elegance to its customers. Named after the prestigious Biltmore Hotel in New York, the company aspired to embody the same luxury and sophistication the hotel represented.

Biltmore’s hats were renowned for their felt, crafted from rabbit pelt through a meticulous and labor-intensive process. Each hat underwent repeated steps to produce felt of the finest quality, a hallmark of the brand. This dedication to excellence enabled Biltmore to endure and thrive through significant challenges, including the Great Depression and World War II. Today, Biltmore Hats continues to uphold its legacy as the pinnacle of style and craftsmanship in the hat-making industry.
