The custom hat manufacturing process
1. Ideation
Share your hat concept, intended customer and design references. Our team can develop your idea or work from a design you already have.
2. Design
Define the material, shape, color, trims and branding. Our in-house designers can develop drawings and technical specifications or use those you supply.
3. Sampling
Review the prototype and provide feedback on the design. Revisions may return the sample to development before approval.
4. Production
After design approval, the project moves to Key Account and procurement for handoff and buying. Production follows the agreed design and order requirements.
5. Finishing
Agreed trims, labels and brand details complete the hat’s presentation. How they are incorporated depends on the style and construction.
6. Delivery
Plan for transit as well as production. Discuss the shipping destination and desired arrival date with the team.

Questions about the process
Do I need a finished tech pack to begin?
No. We can work from sketches through complete tech packs. Share what you have; design support is part of the manufacturing project.
Can I start with an existing Dorfman style?
Yes. Changes to materials, color, trim or design belong to Manufacturing. For an existing style with only your logo, branding or packaging, explore Private Label Hats.
Can I purchase design or sampling on its own?
No. Design and sampling are part of a manufacturing project and are not offered as independent services.
How long will my custom hat project take?
Timing depends on design complexity, materials, sample revisions, approvals, production location and transit. Ask for a project-specific schedule, including what starts each stage and any sample or revision costs, before committing to a launch date.
